The Contracting & Commercial Specialist in a travel agency is responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing travel products and packages tailored to market demand, customer preferences, and emerging travel trends. This role involves collaboration with suppliers, marketing teams, and sales staff to create unique, competitive, and profitable travel offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Design & Development:
- Research and analyze travel trends, competitor offerings, and customer needs.
- Develop new travel packages, tours, and services for domestic and international markets.
- Create itineraries that balance customer experience, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure all products comply with legal and regulatory standards.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with airlines, hotels, transport providers, and other vendors.
- Negotiate rates, terms, and conditions with suppliers to ensure profitability.
- Monitor vendor performance and address any issues affecting service delivery.
- Conduct market research to identify gaps and opportunities.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to position and promote travel products effectively.
- Analyze customer feedback and sales performance to improve product offerings.
- Work with operations teams to ensure seamless delivery of travel services.
- Provide training to sales staff on new products and key features.
- Create detailed product documentation and pricing strategies.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technology advancements, and emerging destinations.
- Develop sustainable and eco-friendly travel packages.
- Introduce innovative experiences that set the agency apart from competitors.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Hospitality, Business Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2-4 years in product development, travel planning, or a similar role in the travel industry.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Proficiency in travel booking systems, MS Office, and relevant software tools.
- Creativity and a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Passion for travel and an understanding of customer needs.
- Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
- Knowledge of multiple languages is a plus.
